Preserving, Producing, and Circulating Cultures, Arts and Languages of Hong Kong
13–14 June 2025 | University of Sheffield, UK
Our two-day workshop last year brought together scholars, practitioners, and community voices to examine the dynamic cultural landscape of Hong Kong through the lens of the arts and humanities. Over two days of vibrant discussion and exchange, participants explored how identity, language, and creative expression are shaped by, and help shape, local and transnational experiences.
Themes Explored
The workshop centred around a broad range of themes, including:
- Identity and expression
- Diasporic identities
- Transformation and assimilation
- Cultural preservation
- Cross-cultural dialogue
- Spaces of exhibition and display
- Media and digital transformation
Through panels and presentations, the event curated a diverse array of perspectives that deepened our understanding of Hong Kong’s evolving cultural and linguistic landscape in a global context.
